Prop Development..

April pointed out whilst browsing through my previous work that she really liked the butterflies I had made using paper and card and I asked me to carry this idea into her photo shoot. Here are a few examples of the butterflies I have designed for her Secret Garden.
I have used the same principle for these but have used more neutral colours to compliment April's collection.
Other props I have been working on are my over sized flowers.......Apple and Peaches.....all will be reviewed after the photo shoot though.

Location Sourcing...

Here are some images of where the final collection will be shot. This is a garden that runs through Bournemouth. The flower beds are full of beautiful pinks and oranges that will compliment the designers clothing perfectly! I also love love love the bridge that I came across in the gardens, the bright bold red almost makes it look fake like it has been placed within the gardens purposely, this will make a statement just on it own within the shoot.

Inspiration...

Once upon a time, I found a hidden key...
Sometimes we keep our secrets locked away....
What is this place behind the branches I can see, what beauty it could be...
Where flowerbeds had laid untouched nature is now being bought back to life...
The smell of wild flowers perfume the aire whilst butterflies dance above me....
As the journey draws to an end take a moment to release your thoughts and be sure to visit again...

collaboration, collaboration...

I have been approach by one of my classmates,April Banbury, asking me to help with a photo shoot she wants to arrange to showcase her final collection and the possibility of a short film too.
The inspiration behind her Spring/Summer 10' collection is 'The Secret Garden'  Her collection consists of beautiful silks, lace and washed out denim.

In order not to make the shoot too cliche' I can vision the location being quite natural and serene with emphasis being made on specific aspects of the garden, for example over sized flowers etc

For this photo shoot we will be also be collaborating with photograph Ginny Marsh, I'm really excited about this collaboration after looking at Ginny's portfolio. I really like the composition of her photos and the strong eye she has for really capturing the mood in front of the lens. Here is a link to her website.

Final Edits...

These are some of my final edits for my first shoot, all the editing was done by myself which is all a bit new to me, hope you like...

A little bird sat peacefully and watchful on a signpost..

I've been working on developing my first photo shoot 'The Unseen Playmate' looking back on the photos I feel that the childish and naive concept doesnt instantly come across through the photos so ive been developing ways of illustrating over them to help portray this idea  further.

Build me a den....

So i've been working away at my next photo shoot for my final major, I took a bit of a risk for this one and decided to take the photographs myself. I always envisage how I want my final images to look so looking at it through the lens rather than whilst directing was a little bit exciting....

The concept behind the shoot is kind of given away through the title. I wanted to potray the idea of building dens as a child. Bringing back all the memories of gathering a handful of giant sticks to make a hideout and stealing all the cushions and blankets around your parents house to shelter yourself...

Hope you like.....

Styling Ideas....

Here are some examples are some of the outfits I have sourced from the high-street for my shoot. Some of them still need a lil tweeking....a few accessories thrown in here and there.

Menswear Styling...

Menswear styling is an area I haven't touched upon as of yet. As the concept behind the shoot 'My Den'  is quite naive and childsih I wanted to give the male model a more casual look with a twist. Whilst looking for inspiration I thought the look of the band MGMT would be quite suited to the look i have visioned. I really like the clashing of colours  and the retro/ tribal feel of the clothes they wear.

Enter in to my World and let your thoughts carry you away.....

Here are a few images from the shoot, after much panicing before the day,the styling, hair & make-up and locations all came together. Its hard to vision if all the locations sourced and sets will work well with each other until you have the finished photographs infront of you, so i'm glad it did go as planned.                                                                                           I hope you                                                       like....

Location Sourcing....

My eyes are constantly peeled on finding new and locations for my photo shoots, When on the hunt for my next shoot i found this beautiful railway bridge with a river flowing through it. I love love love the decay of the brick wall and the dark green moss growing up it. It got me thinking about just exactly how long the bridge had been up for, the people that had cause all wear and tear on the walls....With all these thoughts going through my mind I knew instantly this was the perfect location.

Escape Into A Fushion Of Thoughts...

I've been rushed off my feet with my final major so I haven't  had the chance to blog recently, so i'm going to try my best to keep up todate now...

The concept behind my second photo shoot was the idea of escaping and getting lost in my thoughts, letting them carry me away to World full of no worries. In preparation for the shoot I was bust making butterflies out of card and paper, I also used pages from an old book I found to represent the idea of my thoughts being written down, almost like diary entries....

On the day of the shoot I attached the butterflies on the wall behind the model, I'm really pleased with the effect that they had, the contrast between both the brick wall and the butterflies complimented each other perfectly!! It was also a windy day which made the butterflies seem as if they were about to take off....

On Shoot...

So yesterday was the big day for my photo shoot of  'The Unseen Playmate' I couldn't have asked for a nicer day the weather was beautiful, blue skies and the fields were green! Although, I don't want to be the one to complain about all this lovely weather but it did leave us with a few issues such as shadows on the models faces and what not! I was trying to document the shoot alongside directing it as well, so here is a preview of the day whilst the final photographs are being edited.......
Hope you like.......

Busy Busy Making....

At the moment i've been busy making props and accessories for my photo shoot 'The Unseen Playmate'. Here are images of what I have made so far...Oversized buttons & Alphabet blocks.
I'm really pleased with the outcome of my oversized buttons, I made them using felt and some spare ribbon I had lying around. I'm hoping that when they are styled on the model they will add to the timid doll-like look i'm going for.

The Unseen Playmate

This is the first photo shoot for my final major. The concept behind this shoot is that imaginary playmate every child has that remains unseen. In my dreamt up World my playmate comes to life to make me feel a presence in a place I once felt unhappy and uncomfortable...

Coming out of the shell...Dreaming up my own private spaces...

One way I found to escape when I was younger was to dream up my own private spaces. My Nan would tell me that if I was ever in an uncomfortable situation or felt a little anxious to just let my imagination takeover and take me to a place full of no worries...

This has inspired me to carry this concept forward and create a range of photo shoots whereby I intend to let my imagination takeover in creating some innovative and elborate sets.

The Beginning...

So I thought it was about time I intoduced myself to the wonderful World of blogging. Acting as my visual diary this blog will display all things inspirational that are direct to my final year-studying BA Hons Fashion Studies. It will give you an incite into my mind's eye and over dreamy imagination.

I hope your sitting comfortably, then we'll begin...
